Florida Atlantic Trip

I did travel for Veterans Day.  Not an all time great trip but still worth a share.  I considered the Louisiana coast, the Arkansas and Oklahoma mountains and Florida Atlantic.  I went with option 3.  Not a bad call but perhaps the weather would have been better in Arkansas.  Louisiana was out because of a tropical storm in the Gulf and I wasn't sure where it would turn.  Mountains would have been nice at peak foliage but I didn't think we were quite there yet.  What sealed it was a smokin' deal on a beachfront motel in Flagler Beach for just $70 per night.  That would be my home base for 2 nights.

11/8- Left work early and drove just beyond Tallahassee.  It still makes me smile to cross into Florida.

11/9- First stop was Jacksonville.  I elected to take a dip there in the morning then head down to Flagler for an afternoon session.  I found a radio station that was playing all Christmas music.  So, here I was listening to songs about snow while on my way to shred some waves in 80 degree weather.  Water temperature was around 75.  I love FLA.

11/10- Mostly overcast today with a little rain.  A bit of a downer but it didn't wreck the trip.  Most of the rain came at lunchtime and I still salvaged a decent surf session.  The weather may have been a little better 30 minutes south in Daytona but I elected to stay at the home base.  Flagler has a chill vibe and is less touristy than nearby Daytona.

11/11- Left Flagler after sunrise and stopped in St. Augustine.  I got a free tour of the fort because it was a Federal holiday and squeezed in a dip at Vilano Beach nearby.  Conditions were nearly perfect.  I really didn't want to leave but I needed to get home at a decent hour.  Went back through Georgia via 280.
