Training 3/16-3/22

3/16- Hard to remain motivated when races are canceled and everything is in limbo.  Opened with a half lap at Montreat in 67.5 (6:45 pace) then after 400 mg of CoQ10, I improved to 51.9 seconds (5:11 pace).  Unfortunately, a 2nd 400 mg pill proved to be too much and I was worthless in the evening.  Tacked on some junk anyway.
Distance=1.0
Update:
Work has been closed due to the coronavirus.  I was a nay-sayer for quite a while and hope that I was right but whenever I am wrong, I am willing to admit it.  No official word on the Minnesota race scheduled for late April but I assume it will be either canceled or postponed.  Time will tell how severe this turns out to be.

3/17- Extremely boring day at work from home.  I dropped my CoQ10 dosage from 1200 to 800.  It was still too much.  I'm going back down to 400 and hope that it stabilizes there.  Workout was 2 miles at Montreat after "work"  and finished in 17:28 (8:44 pace) with splits of 8:30-8:58.
Distance=2.0

3/18- Dropped to 400 and it was still too much.  Just junk was all that I could do..
Distance=2.0

3/19- Very interesting.  I was awful when I woke up but got better as the day progressed.  2 miles on Lakeshore in 15:28 (7:44 pace) with pretty even splits (7:40-7:48)
Distance=3.0

3/20- With rain in the forecast, an AM run was all that I could do.  Veteran's Park was the locale.  1 lap naked in 5:45 (8:37 pace) but improved to 4:50 on the 2nd lap with CoQ10 (7:15 pace).  I believe the gap will diminish soon.    CoQ10 is still needed.    I don't believe that I will benefit much beyond 400 mg.
Distance=2.0

3/21- Collapse.  It was not the CoQ10.  BHMT was the culprit, which I previously thought to be a non-factor.  As is often the case with failed long runs, the first mile was in the low 9s but I was fading fast and had to walk some at the end.
Distance=2.0

3/22- Good news with the intervals.  Still hurting as a result of extra BHMT yesterday.  Opened with a 3:13 at Montreat (9:39 pace).  500 mg of CoQ10- Improved to 2:49.8 (8:29 pace).  MINUS 70.  That's still a significant gap and it's got to close soon.  The good news came at 1000 mg.  On the double dose, I actually improved fractionally to 2:49.2 (8:27 pace).  I need the CoQ10 but there is NO benefit beyond 500 mg.  I'll take the smallest effective dose.  Probably, 400 will do.
Distance=1.0

-13 miles on the week.
